Monday Catch Up

I’ve been taking a little break from the computer these days. Actually, I’ve been taking a break from almost everything that I would consider my “normal routine”. I haven’t taken very many photos. I haven’t finished the paintings I have in the works. I haven’t even been really participating in the Photography class I’ve been taking. Sometimes I think we all need a break and we just have to go with it. It’s what I would consider the normal ebb & flow of creativity. Sometimes it’s hard to embrace this because I think the creativity will never return. If I look back, it does return though. I just have to be patient and work through it….and we all know patience is not something I’m famous for.

I did have a perfectly lovely visit with my Mom this weekend. The three of us took a drive to one of the local farmer’s markets and were very lucky the rain held off. In fact, for a couple of weeks now, it has rained at least once every day. You know the weather’s been bad when the radio DJ is talking about what a great day it is when in fact it is cloudy and humid and not a bit of sun to be seen. I’ve even begun to enjoy our evening walks with the doggies in the rain…not really, but it’s gotten to the point I don’t even notice anymore.

I can’t forget to mention the Olympics! From the spectacular opening ceremonies right up to 6am this morning, my butt has been pretty much parked on the sofa in front of the tube. While I work this week the TV will be blaring the results at me and I will pause each time I hear a Canadian’s name called at the start of an event. I particularly enjoy the swimming. Mainly because as a child a spent a few years or so myself toiling in the pool, on the road and in the weight room. To all of the athletes I bow down to you. I stand up and cheer with tears sometimes in my eyes or running down my cheeks and in awe that you and your families had the courage and strength to keep on keepin’ on through the pain, the struggles and through the times that you just couldn’t imagine training any more. Your strength is inspiring to this old girl who needs to find the courage herself to get out there and just do it!

...and just for a few chuckles....I introduce to you... me, at around age 14.
