Another beautiful September morning. I just happen to be freezing my behind off in my office since I left some windows open last night. Fall has definitely arrived in full force and my dreamed about final swim in our little pool isn't going to happen.
This above gorgeous photo is of my nephew Todd, who also happens to be one of my God Children. I was lucky enough when he was young to take him to concerts, a semi-pro basketball game, do a little street dancing and generally have fun with him. Remember Jack & Jill sundaes from Dairy Queen? I swear the best part about having kids must be to act like a kid yourself. Todd is now going to be a father for the first time, and Wally & I are excited to be able to share in this as the God Parents to their new baby.
When I process photos, I generally have no idea which photos I'll choose to play with or alter. I never have any idea what words will flow out of me. This photo is a result of processing approx. 100 photos yesterday.
I've always liked taking Todd's photo. His face speaks to me. I simply love this photo even though it was taken with a zoom and his eyes are not visible, etc. If I was a professional, which I'm not, I certainly wouldn't accept this photo as a good one. BUT, sometimes a "keeper" just isn't technically a good photo. To me a good photo evokes emotion. A good photo tells a story. A good photo makes a person react to it. If I follow any of these criteria, I have to say, this is a good photo.
Today is a full-on work day. AND since Wally arrived home last evening, today is also going to be a visit to the farm to help finalize the preparations for the party tomorrow. I know for a fact my sister has been cooking up a storm. Five goat roasts are perfectly cooked, several beef roasts are now in the oven, many chickens and a turkey are soon to be done too! All the preparations are almost done, just awaiting the arrival of friends and family. Now, fingers and toes are crossed that the beautiful weather of this week will continue for one more day.
