I'm alive and kick'n. Yes, indeed I am. I've been buried under a huge pile of computer files that needed to be transfered from one drive to another and then had do it all over again to another drive on a brand spank'n new laptop.
It's been a little easier getting out from under the pile of snow that fell than fixing this computer problem of mine.
In the past week I have endured two power outages, one crashed computer that to this date is irreparable, and managed to get things ready for my press deadline of Monday 9am. That my friends, makes for a reason to bring on the happy dance.
In amongst all of this I had the honour of speaking to many different technicians from DELL that patiently repeated themselves over and over again like I was a very slow child and still no computer up and running. I even managed to follow instructions with the phone attached to my ear all the while lying on the floor, removing the case from my desk top and then following instructions of remove this wire and put it here...remove this wire from this port and move it over here...try taking out the battery from the motherboard and then put it back in. And to think I thought I wasn't technically inclined!
I'm hoping to get things back in order this week. That means I have to convince DELL to go good on their warranty and finally get their Tech. person here to remove all the contents from my hard drive so I can then convince them to give me a new computer. The thought of my entire life ending up in someone elses office or home sends shivers up my spine.
This week is a mad week of Christmas shopping, gift wrapping and shipping gifts across the country and to the US so they hopefully will arrive on time. I also plan on visiting my Mom and hopefully finish up most of the packing before her move. As of now most of my pictures are still on my hard drive that is sitting in a computer that the operating system won't run on, which by the way is literally sitting on the floor of a local computer geek. If you're someone who looks forward to receiving a pretty calendar and Christmas card from us you're most likely out of luck this year since I've almost given up on the idea of getting them done.
Tick Tock Tick Tock...that's the sound of panick creeping into me right now.
