Left Behind

We awoke early this morning. Was it the time change? Was it the fact Wally was starting a new course? We’ll never know for sure, but it was nice for a change to wake up and not feel like I was in some sort of hung-over state without the benefit of a really good time the night before.

As I stepped off the last of our stairs to the driveway with Lily in tow I am struck by the addition in our driveway. I think to myself “what a strange sight”. Looking at Military boots standing on their own in the middle of the driveway looks…well…a little sad really. They don’t belong on asphalt. They don’t belong here. As I shake my head and smile I think “is he walking around in sock feet today practicing hand-to-hand combat?” I’m positive he’s not, but it is a funny thought.

With the extra hour sleep we were entitled to yesterday, we used it for a little fall cleaning. Man it feels good to get the house in order. It also feels good to no longer be sitting on the fence about moving. We’re staying put for now and will revisit it in 2010 after Wally’s little adventure in the Gulf. It feels good to look at our home with a different set of eyes. It feels good to feel like it’s home.

Yesterday, we also saw another movie, “the Changeling”. AWESOME. Angelina Jolie. She is…she is…I can’t think of the right word. She is perfect in this role. Best movie I’ve seen this year.

TODAY: I have lots on the go... Do what needs to be done for the job I get paid for. Buy some good food to cook with for the week. Purchase the concert tickets we’ve been talking about. Try to find out why my printer isn’t working the way it should. Plant the bulbs I’ve been avoiding. Clean-up my “downloads” and sort out the remaining computer issues I have. Make muffins. Get in some painting. Update my Photo-A-Day. Do a fish fry-up for supper.

This, my friends, is the makings of a good and productive day.
