Most of my weekend was spent either thinking about the new baby that just arrived or preparations and attending the shower for the next arrival. Too much fun!
I made party favours for the guests which included assorted Hershey's minis, Tootsie Rolls and Peppermint Patties. Basically, I wrapped each piece with a new wrapper that consisted of assorted sayings and photos of Chrissy's belly.
The graphic below is a closeup of the tag for the favours. I wrote a verse as if it was from the Mom & Dad to be, and it was held on by ribbon, and a mini soother and baby footprint charm were added for decoration. I have to admit they were really cute!
I also printed one of the photos I took of Chrissy when she was approx. 5 mths. pregnant and not near as large as she is today. I put it in a mat for everyone to write out a sentiment for the baby. The photo of Chrissy will be replaced with their new baby's picture once she/he arrives.
Some of the guests were not able to attend, but it was great to see so many trek through the wind and driving rain to wish Chrissy and Todd well.
We did have a little fun guessing what the measurement of Chrissy's ever expanding waist was, and Nana quickly whipped out the horse tape to determine the winner. Chrissy, you really are a good sport with all of the groping you endure.
It was very nice to meet some of Chrissy's friends and share in the excitement of the impending arrival.
The happiness of the occasion is evident on every photo that I took.
If you would like to see more photos from the shower, look to the right side of this Blog and you will find a section titled "my photos", which scrolls through photos I have on Flickr, click on it and you will be redirected to the site. Once there, click on LisaB Fun's photostream and you can scroll back and forth through the photos.
Before I headed home I visited with Mom who is under the weather right now, but is doing just fine. After a well needed rest, I'm sure she'll be back on the go in no time.
Now, I have to mention the not-so-fun drive home. It.was.RAINING.HARD. Bouncing off the pavement type rain. The wind was still whipping around and I was very glad to pull in my driveway. Mind you, I would have driven through anything to have the honour of witnessing the excitement on Chrissy's face with every gift that was opened.
TODAY: I've already processed most of the photos from yesterday, I must get some "real" work done including keying ads, preparing invoices and calling customers. I'll have a chat with my Mom and see how she's doing today. AND best of all, I have to get ready for a "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" taping tonight. Everything else I need to do is just going to have to wait because the day is half over already.
