2008 in Review

On this final day of 2008 I thought I’d share a little of what I’ve been up to for the past year. Most of this has been previously written about on the blog.

Baby news:

• Candice and Cory had a beautiful baby girl on November 14, Kherington Cory,10 lbs 4 ounces and 23” long.
• Todd & Chrissy share their pregnancy and ask Wally & I to be God Parents when their little one arrives in January/09.
• Baby shower preparations for Chrissy which included photos and party favours
• Emma Suley turned one on May 14, 2008.
• Noah Suley born October 9, 2008, 9 lb. 6 oz., 20” long.

1 year anniversary of Dad’s death, December 20, 2007. We buried him at sea on May 4, 2008 with Battle of the Atlantic.

Mom moved into a new apartment in December, 2008.

Seriously looked at buying a condo but decided to renew our mortgage for four more years in December/08.

Concerts & Shows attended:

• Lenny Kravitz at Metro Centre
• Led Zeppelin Classic Albums at Casino
• This Hour Has 22 Minutes at CBC
• Q104 Quarter Century Party at P21

Tried my hand at cooking and baking better quality food, and had a little bit of success.

Major computer failure and managed to get through it on my own.

Wally bought a Honda Shadow 750 motorcycle.

Wally received his promotion to P02 and was posted back to HMCS Fredericton. He has completed a Boarding Party course and supervisor course (for boarding party), and is preparing for a Gulf trip in 2009/2010.

I “fell in love” with John Mayer.

Places we visited and notable parties:

• We attended Rocky River Haflingers (Kelly & Dewayne) farm party and had a great time seeing everyone.
• Lawrencetown Exhibition
• Oaklawn Farm Zoo
• Whale watching at Brier Island
• Canada Day in Halifax
• Mahone Bay for Mussel Festival Victoria Day weekend
• Curling in Bridgewater with Nick & Jill
• Eagle watching in Sheffield Mills
• Attended a Mooseheads Game and a World Hockey Game at Metro Centre

Home Repairs/Decorating:

• Had eavestrough put on house
• Painted and decorated master bdrm.
• Permacrete repaired foundation crack in furnace room

I took an online Photography Class as well as several Digital Scrapping Classes.
Fell in (and out of) love with digi scrapping.

I took lots of photos! My skills are starting to improve.

Celebrated our 11th anniversary August 1, 2008.

Several deer made their way to the field behind our yard.

Went sailing twice with Gary & Sue – love that!

Mom gave me her diamond ring.

We had our “kiddie” pool for the 2nd year and I absolutely love it.

I purchased art from Kal Bartestki.

Wally & I had our first pedicure together.

We bought, flew and crashed our first kite.

Health: I had some foot problems that forced me to have orthodics made and my exercise program was reduced to almost nil. This pain was/is excruciating, but I’m starting to work through it. My diabetes has officially been out of control for one year even with the aid of insulin and pills. I gained 20 lb. I had pneumonia and was very ill.

Wally and I have started walking more and farther with the dogs.
