We awoke to a shaking bed and clinking light fixtures as the wind howled through our home. Today was the day we were to pick up my Mom for the start of her Holiday visit. The official start of our Holiday with the arrival of my Mom didn't happen. The threat of another non-cooperative weather day on the 24th is looming and I'm trying hard not to totally freak out that there will be three of us eating enough food for 20. The preparations have been going on for a while now, and I can't imagine not having the gang here. Plan B is that I'll still cook on the 24th, but will pack it up and take it down to the Valley on the 25th. Sorry folks, but that just sucks!
So, now that I've ranted a little, I'll move on to better things. My Holiday Memories are piling up. As you'll see, most of my memories are just everyday events in my life.

My attempts at baking went pretty well. Most of the items I will make again, and trust me when I say that I learned a lot during this process. Yes...I think I can say I had some success in the baking department this year, and that feels pretty darn good.

Of course, it's always fun to make your little doggie look slightly rediculous. Poor Lily. I couldn't resist putting her in this when I came across the Santa jacket in amongst the decorations.

And here is proof that I am here. Look closely and you'll see my reflection in the ornaments that are on the shelf in our guest bathroom on the main floor of our home. Try not to look so closely that you subject yourself to all of the implements that are contained in the bathroom.

This year, I hoped to make beautiful paper snowflakes and hang them around our home. This, along with many other projects I hoped to complete will remain in my head, cluttering my brain for another time. These "crystal" snowflakes are what I found to decorate my dining room light fixture. I think this is one of those times that things work out even better than was originally intended.
If you're following along, you'll see that Holiday Memory No. 2 is missing. It just happens to be a photo of Wally and I from Friday evening's ship Christmas party at the Westin in Halifax. The picture is out of focus, but there are so few photos of us together I have decided to "do something" with it anyway. I'll share if/when I get something completed.
So, as I look out my office window at the snow that is swirling around I again wonder what happened to the afternoon sun we were supposed to receive. The storm is worse now than it was all last night! Oh Lord! Just let us be able to get down to the Valley to pick up my Mom and bring her here for what I hope will be a memorable Holiday for her. Oh! and one more thing...can the snow and wind hold off now until after Boxing Day so everyone can get to where they need to in one piece?
I sure hope all of your preparations are coming along swimmingly!
Stay Safe. Have a Life.Is.Good. kind of week.
