Snow Fairies

Good morning sunshine...how are you?

All or nothing…that’s me again. Not to worry folks. I am not ill. I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’m not off on some adventure of a lifetime even though I wish something as exciting as that was happening. I’m just here living my own little personal adventure of a healthy lifestyle.

In an earlier post I talked about the changes I am implementing to make my way toward a healthier life, and taking the time to take care of me…well, that’s exactly what I’m doing. I just never realized how much time it would actually take to look after me. Who knew I was a high maintenance chick!? I know I said I would only write about my life changes on the first Monday of each month, but honestly that’s all I have going on these days. My life is consumed by cooking and exercising. I’m sure once I get my routine down, things will go along much quicker, but for now it’s all consuming. So, in a nutshell, that’s what I’ve been up to the last several days.

As with most of us in our neck of the woods the snow fairies have been working overtime, and it is spectacular! To have snow without rain tacked on the end is simply beautiful!

Wally took the picture below of me after Sienna decided to venture off a little farther than she should have. I walked through the back field calling her and then came back to wait for her and decided to act like the kid I sometimes feel I am and lay in the snow and make angels. Ohhh! The hours I spent as a child hanging out in the snow looking up at the sky. Love, love LOVE laying in the snow looking up at the clouds. I must do this more often! So glad Wally took the time to notice and capture the moment, otherwise I probably would have forgotten I even did this.

Our perfectly lovely neighbours Jim & Nancy offered up their snow blower since ours could possibly be going to the grave soon. This was Wally last evening clearing the driveway so I wouldn't have to shovel today. He's at sea this week doing trials, so I'm thinking lots of shoveling may be in my near future. Nighttime snow is just so peaceful isn't it?!

We also spent some time on the weekend making homemade bread...and yes, from scratch. It is awesome. It's a first for both of us, and I have to say it brought back so many memories of my Mom & Dad baking bread. To see Wally with his hands in the bread bowl mixing flooded my senses and memories of Dad in the kitchen. I was surprised how much I even remembered about the process of baking bread since I had no recollection of seeing my parents doing this, but obviously I was there at some point. It always amazes what triggers memories of our childhood and the comforting feelings that go along with them.

Baking bread is one of those things I am changing. Less chemicals in my body. Let's face it, the shelf life on store bread is truly scary! So, for the next several weekends Wally and I will be spending some time in the kitchen perfecting assorted bread recipes until we can come up with some whole grain bread that is totally yummy. That's my goal anyway! I'll post if/when we're successful.

Sorry for the long post folks. For someone who hasn't been doing anything I sure do go on about it don't I. This week I'm on my own. This week I'm getting my gym membership renewed so I'm not by myself in the basement all of the time (treadmill). This week I'm cleaning out the rest of my office and organizing my photos. I promise, everyone who is waiting for something from me will get it by the end of this week. My "to do" list is a page long and I plan on getting through it all in the next few days.

Oh! And if I'm really, really lucky I'll be meeting a new little person sometime this week too!
