life's a DANCE

It’s around 5pm and I’m home. I spent most of yesterday with Dad and stayed overnight with Mom. She was very tired, so thankfully she had a rest in the afternoon. Each day it seems he slips away. It’s unbelievable how a man can walk into hospital and a week later struggle to take a breath. It is hard now that he finds it difficult to talk or sometimes even open his eyes.

I look at this picture of Dad and I dancing at my cousin Angela’s wedding. It makes me smile even though I have a slight pang that I didn’t take the opportunity to have a dance at my own wedding. Darn I wish he would have had the opportunity to teach Wally how to dance!

Mom and Dad were dancers. I loved, LOVED watching them dance. They twirled around the dance floor like no other. Many times it brought tears to my eyes just watching them. Apparently, Dad wasn’t always a great dancer though. As the story goes he almost didn’t catch my Mom when they were courting because she was a dancer and he wasn’t. Good thing he quickly learned a thing or two!
Finally, thanks to those of you who sent encouraging messages. I'll pass them on to Mom and Dad tomorrow. I'm sure they will make them both smile.
