I had a very QUICK pitstop at the public gardens a couple of days ago and took some photos of the sites. I was so pressed for time I didn't get much further than the entrance, so I will head back there the next opportunity I have.

I am trying to learn to be a better photographer using my DSLR camera. Just when I think I've got the shutter, aperture, ISO, lighting, etc. figured out, it seems I take a bunch of not so great photos...not so bad when it's just random shots, but really upsetting when people are involved.
Right now I'm loving my 50mm lens. If I take a half decent shot it's usually with that lens. The only downside of it is that I have to use my feet to "zoom" in, but generally that's OK. It gives a nice soft focus to faces and works great when playing with aperture.
This photo is me playing with the Shutter Priority setting (TV) on my camera. It is a vase turned upside down in the sink with hot water running on it. Since it was taken indoors without good lighting the photo is noisy. I added a burn around the edge and did sharpen in Photoshop.
