Hump Day...and Invitation Day Wednesday

The days have all morphed together lately. As someone who works from home, weekends or holidays have lost their excitement for me. I work every second weekend, without fail. Birthdays, holidays, sicknesses all get put on the back burner until I “go to press” Monday morning. Saturday evenings usually roll into Saturday nights working in front of my computer. But, this past weekend got lost and then yesterday I realized I hadn’t visited my Blog or added to it since Friday. I had no excuse really. At least I didn’t have the work excuse. Now, I actually consider that to be a good thing, because it basically means that I've been enjoy life so much that I just plain forgot!

So, there you have it, I got lost in the joy of life. Wally’s now feeling better after several days of the ick, and is merrily working away back on ship. Just like old times really. As he packed up some clothes, towels and other necessary items I smiled and said “feels like you’re moving out”. In fact, when he’s working onboard a ship that’s exactly what happens. He belongs to the ship. He’s now on the Fredericton (Freddie). Seems like this ship really is his. He’s spent 8 years on her, but now this is a first in the Chief’s & PO’s mess. He spoke last night of the “heads” (washrooms), and how odd but familiar they were. He spent many years cleaning this place and now they are his facilities to use…must be strange indeed.

I’ll backtrack a little now, as I did get to have a little fun with my family on the weekend. As Wally was on the mend I ventured to Kingston for the Steer BBQ parade and of course the Steer Bits.

Here’s the clan that attended the parade: my brother and his lady friend, my Mom, one of my sisters and one of her sons & daughter-inlaw and their nephew.

I couldn’t resist a “kid shot” of my nephew’s nephew. I don’t get to take many kid shots so I had a little fun and played with the camera.

For any vegetarians out there, now is the time to close your eyes...
Here’s a steer coming off the spit.

…and here are the bits. As Rachael Ray would say “Yummo!” Just so you know the shiny french fries are not grease, it's the gravy that comes with the "bits".

I ventured back to the Valley on Sunday so I could take some photos of my Sister & Brother Inlaw at their farm. I had such a great time doing this, and they were really great sports to embrace the country theme. This is the result of that.

Anyone who has an affiliation with the Charltons, Hendersons or Dalrymples is welcome! Sounds like fun doesn't it?

Today: Full-on work day with a ton of laundry to boot. A must do is buy dog food - or have the SPCA knocking at my door. The fridge is close to empty which means a grocery store pit stop along the way - at least for milk! And a must do is fit in a swim or two. Sounds like a full and lovely day to me. Get to it!
