Yesterday was turning into a non-eventful day. It was one of those days that just passes by without any significance…UNTIL…I meandered down the hall from my office to use the facilities. In this room there is a window directly across from the door that looks out over our backyard and the pasture beyond. As I walked through the door I couldn’t believe my eyes. There standing was a beautiful young deer. She hung around long enough for me to go back to my office, pull out my camera, change to a longer lens and then shoot a few shots through the window. These aren’t the best photos in the world, but man, I’m so glad my timing was right! My totally mundane, uneventful day just became a little special. How lucky is that? I love the beauty of nature in its natural environment. It’s rare for the deer to come this close because the tree line is a ways off. It was definitely my lucky day! Now, if we could just figure out a way to keep the skunks away. Or, at least prevent them from applying their beautiful perfume in the middle of the night!

On another note, I thought I'd share a few photos I took when visiting one of my clients on Tuesday. He (my client) has the most amazing variety of lilies in his garden and a beautiful man-made pond with a waterfall to boot. He also has a huge variety of birds he raises as well and two dogs that unfortunately haven’t been too kind to a family of ducks that have inhabited his pond. So happy I got to photograph the ducks a while back.

Wally’s off tomorrow for an extended long weekend. Here in our neck of the woods Monday is Natal Day (civic holiday). It’s not a statutory holiday, but my man is one of the lucky ones who has it off. This weekend I’m working, but I will enjoy as much of the festivities as I can. This weekend also holds significance to me for another reason. Tomorrow is our 11th wedding anniversary. I plan on sharing as much time with the most lovely husband a girl could have over this weekend. Saturday we’ll hopefully take in some fireworks from the ship’s viewpoint, and who knows what else we’ll get up to in between.
Have a perfectly lovely Thursday folks!
