Wednesday Bump

A little about our local Remembrance Day service held in our community yesterday. The number of people in attendance was heart-warming.

We arrived fairly early to ensure we were at a good vantage point.

A bagpiper plays Amazing Grace. A young trumpeter sounds his horn. A local minister recites a prayer of gratitude. As if on cue, a significant wind arose and it felt like there were even more in attendance than our eyes could see. One never knows, but everytime something like this happens I do wonder.

As a final token, all in attendance are encouraged to lay their poppies at the foot of the War Memorial.

In between our home and the War Memorial Museum you can find Kings Edgehill. It’s a private school that boasts grounds and buildings that stand majestic in our beautiful Town of Windsor. As part of their curriculum, I believe, music/marching band is a requirement. These kids marched in and out in full regalia…quite a sight. Look closely at the photo below and you'll see a long line of red uniforms heading up the hill back to school.

If you've never been to a Remembrance Day Service, I can only say, it is worthwhile...especially if you have children. It's is an hour out of our day to remember the fallen and honour those that have served and those that are currently serving in places that we can't imagine.

TODAY: I’m planning on shrinking the pile of looming laundry that’s been hanging out in our closet; a little Internet search is in the works for fun stuff to do at a party for ladies; a little more Internet time confirming the time of my little surprise for Wally tonight; make a much needed appt. for the dreaded facial hair removal – I’m going to look like Grizzly Adams if something isn’t done soon – no offence to him either; try and figure out why my “Windows” drive is supposedly full (when I know it’s not) so I can get the required backup done on my computer system; and find some time to finish up some party favour making; and, most importantly, get ready for my early birthday “surprise” for Wally.
