The Holiday Season is in full swing around here. In between "Christmasy stuff" we've managed to help Mom get the remainder of her things to her new apt. and do some rearranging ourselves. I think seeing the accumulation of the "things" we all hang onto over the years gave me the urge to do some purging of my own. The kitchen cupboards that were bulging at the seams are now organized and oh so pretty...well not really, but that sounds good doesn't it?
We also managed to rearrange our very small den so that we can actually view the TV, and so Wally can imagine the beautiful flatscreen he has been druelling over for lord knows how long. The room is now ready and waiting. Waiting for the day that we both - at the same time - have a weak moment and go ahead and make such a frivilous purchase...he gets his TV, I get my fireplace. Ahh! the art of marital compromise.
I have been taking lots of photos but I just haven't taken the time to process them. My Holiday Memories this year are in no particular order. As usual, they'll be just what happens to float my boat when I sit in front of my computer and take a peek at what's there.
Holiday Memory No. 1 is something that I've been getting a chuckle over for the past 3 years. This is the tree I bought when we had to replace the one that went for a swim in the basement sewage (another story). It really is a sad little tree. It really is a cute little tree. It really is a prissy little tree. It really is a girly tree. It really is a tree that Wally absolutely cannot stand. I keep telling him that I'm all for a real tree and this tree will find a home in another room of our home. For one reason or another a real tree has only made it through our door once in the past four years, so he gets to endure the tree he cannot stand. Ahhh! the art of marital compromise.
Today: My day started with an all out belly laugh at the expense of Wally...he who doesn't know how to put the cap on anything came out of the bathroom door and knocked over a full family size bottle of mouth wash that splashed onto the bathroom floor and into the carpet in our bedroom. At 6am it really is funny seeing two people fly around wiping up a mess with the aroma of "minty fresh" filling the air.
Today I am baking. YES, I said baking....for the thousandth (OK not really) time I'm saying how much I hate baking. BUT, it's Christmas, and I really must get something baked that's edible. 10 days people. 10 days until I can manage to get something that's worthy of serving 10 people on Christmas Eve.
