Summertime in Spring. That's what we're having here today. 26 degrees and sun is forecasted! I haven't even switched over my closets in fear of jinxing it!
I am counting my blessings today in one more way. I was amongst the successful students to enroll in Candice Stringham's Portrait Photography Class being held at jessicasprague.com. After a server crash on the site due to the high volume of people on the site, and refreshing over and over again for approx. 30 min. I got in! Can you tell I'm really excited about that. The only potential problem I have is finding people that will allow me to take their portrait. The class starts next Monday and runs for 4 weeks. So, if you want to help out a girl whose husband is at sea, and who doesn't have a family of her own to bribe, PLEASE contact me so I can take your portrait. PRETTY PLEASE!
Young, old, babies, families. My style is a bit of a free spirit. I only need people to bring their perfectly imperfect lovely selves. I plan on photographing people as they are. Let's face it, some families are a little more rock 'n roll than others. Ice cream or bubble gum on your kid's face? No problem! That's what we'll shoot. Personality is what it's all about. Portraits should be fun! Portraits should reflect who you are. If who you are is quiet and refined that's OK too! BUT, I'm betting everyday life isn't always like that...especially if you have one, two or more rugrats running around your house...Portraits to me are a snapshot in time. They reflect who you and your family are at a particular point in time.
So, I ask again...do you have a secret wish to have your portrait, or your family portrait taken in a little different way than being lined up in blue jeans and white shirts? Let's give it a whirl! We can take as little as an hour, but can be longer. I'm pretty flexible on locations - except driving to never-never land. Oh. And by the way. Since I don't consider myself a professional. IT'S FREE. I'll provide you with a CD of several of my favourite photos from the shoot and you can print them at your leisure!
TODAY: Sales day for me. Visit with the boss. Visit with my current clients. Visit with potential new clients. I've been working hard at my "real" job for the past several months, so no family visits to sqeeze in today. I also MUST finish my taxes. This year has been one of those years that I just can't seem to get this task completed. With a looming deadline I can no longer make excuses now can I! Oh! AND since the weather is going to be so fine, I can't miss out on it either. Me and the doggies are sure to find a little time to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine and heat a little too!
